Great food...
Specializing in the cuisine of southern India, Madras Pavilion is most notable
for two things: a bountiful vegetarian lunch buffet and, among items on that
buffet, the unique dosai, a rice and lentil crêpe with your choice of filling.
The buffet with more than 20 offerings is so richly flavored and varied that
even meat-eaters will find it satisfying. Savory curries, tender okra, tamarind
rice and onion chutney are a few of the items offered. Another south Indian
specialty worth trying is the pizzalike vegetable uthappam, spicy and covered
in onions, peas, carrots, tomatoes and chilies. Though the buffet is the real
drawing card, evening meals from the menu are worthy, too. If you dine with a
group, order the family-size dosai, almost 4 feet long; it will span the length
of the table, a real food event. The service is friendly and attentive, with
your water glass never allowed to get empty, and that's good as you sample so
many spicy, exotic flavors. Madras is one of the city's all-vegetarian

A great buffet
A great buffet is fast and well-priced for a weekday lunch. A dosa (amazing
flatbread stuffed with potato-based filling) is included with the meal - order
regular or spicy versions from your waiter. Even avid meat-eaters enjoy this
veggie restaurant. All your favorites, like saag paneer, eggplant, and lentil
dishes are on the buffet, plus some delicious things you may not have tried
before. Fruit salad is always lovely for dessert. Allwinraj

Food was amazing!
We went with a group of six people, only one of whom was a vegetarian. I was
extremely skeptical but the food was amazing! The waitstaff was very patient
and friendly, and even though they don't serve alcohol in the restaraunt, they
let us bring in a bottle of wine to drink with dinner. I would definitely eat
there again, but not without someone who knows their way around the menu. Allwinraj

I'll definitely come back
It was my first time eating this kind of Indian food. I got Madras pavilion
special (I think that was the name of the dish), and I had a quite interesting
dining experience. Overall, flavor was good but I kinda got tired of taste
toward the end. I wish it had little more variety. It might take me a while to
get used to those flavors and style, but I'll definitely come back to try out
different dishes. An - Austin

Food is good
I am not Indian, so I cannot vouch for the authenticity of Madras Pavillion.
What I *have* noticed; however, is how many Indian people are eating there
every time I go. As my parents used to say- if you're looking for the good
Chinese restaurant, watch where all the Chinese restuarant owners go to eat
after they've closed up shop. Madras is delicious, the portions are huge, and
the prices are very reasonable. The food they serve is very different from
other Indian restaurants in town- especially the huge, beautiful Dosai. I
highly recommend the puffy bread instead of the usual Naan. It is unique and
the texture and flavor are wonderful. I am not a vegetarian, but I go to Madras
more than any other Indian restaurant simply because the food is good

I recommend Indian restaurants in the Hillcroft
area
I am Indian, but I eat meat. Madras Pavilion is a restaurant which I would
frequent only if I were a vegetarian. The food is sub-par, and the staff is
stand-offish. Some picks on the menu are decent, but you can find the same if
not better elsewhere for a lower price. Madras Pavilion is overrated as a good
Indian restaurant, the food on the buffet is a sad excuse for Indian cuisine. I
recommend Indian restaurants in the Hillcroft area over this.

This is very high-quality food
I have been eating at this vegetarian restaurant since it opened. I
congratulate them on their expansion to Austin and Dallas (and now, evidently,
Sugarland). I love the Dosai and the samosas. Recently, I have been spending
more time at Udupi Cafe, but I had a fantastic meal last night. This is very
high-quality food. Piediraalan - Sugar Land

Comfortable place to enjoy
The clean, simple dining room perfumed with incense is a comfortable place to
enjoy mild veggie concoctions cooked in surprising and inventive combinations.
Some items will be familiar to Indian food fans, like vegetable samosas or the
mulligatawny soup. Among the more exotic choices are dosai (vegetable-stuffed
crepes) and uthappam Caroline - Richardson
